Photo booths have been a popular installation on many exhibition stands over the last few years. At IAA in Frankfurt, car manufacturer Opel took this concept to a new level with the ‘Opel Selfie Jump’ that featured not only one, but 75 cameras.
The full service event provider PRG XL Video, who was commissioned to put the concept and idea by Bellprat Associates AG into reality, installed these cameras in a semi-circle of 270° around a platform. Visitors of the Opel booth were invited to step onto the platform for their selfie. A monitor provided a countdown upon which the guests would jump in the air and all 75 cameras would simultaneously take a picture. These images were rendered into a three-second-clip and stored on a database. The visitors then had the opportunity to publish their clips on the Opel Facebook Page, send them via email or send them to the LED wall on the stand.
The high-res Ventuz powered LED wall displayed the last 20 Selfie Jump clips as part of a complex real-time content symphony. PRG XL Video chose Ventuz for this job because of the easy integration of database systems and the possibility to map videos onto 3D objects. During the ten show days, more than 3500 Opel Selfie Jumps were recorded and published, proving the popularity of the installation.
