True football fans are data crazy. So it is no wonder that sports TV centers around analysis and data visualization, always looking for new and slick ways to put their information into appealing graphics. Chelsea TV at Stamford Bridge Stadium recently introduced a completely Ventuz powered touchscreen to their studio to improve their data visualization and bring more flexibility to their broadcasts.
The project was brought to reality by the agency Mammoth Graphics using one Ventuz server and an NEC touchscreen. On the screen, the TV presenter can choose between a multitude of views and features. As well as displaying team formations and player stats, the application offers video replays with telestration options for in-depth analysis. All data is streamed from an external data source, making sure that every piece of information is up to date.
Mammoth Graphics enjoyed using Ventuz for this project mainly because of the flexibility of the toolset. “Native touch ability allowed us to focus on building the best presentation we could without worrying about compatibility with equipment”, explained Phil Long of Mammoth Graphics. “Ventuz scripting gave us the power to work with external data sources and create custom features within a single application. The advantage of being able to deliver everything in house means that we can suggest new features and continually improve the touchscreen product as the season progresses.”
The Ventuz powered touchscreen is on air every Monday and Thursday on Chelsea TV and has received a great response from staff and audience alike.
