Channel 5 Taps into the Mind of Football

Once again British agency Mammoth Graphics has used the Ventuz software suite to equip a football studio with a telestrator application that offers interactive insight into games and players. The program is called “Football on 5” and airs every Saturday night at 9pm during the football season on Channel 5.

The pundit uses a NEC touchscreen to browse through clips of the day’s games, isolate situations and highlight points of interest. This offers the opportunity to analyze strategies and focus on important passages of play, giving the viewer a broader understanding of their favorite sport. The content is also sent into the production gallery where the vision mixer can choose to display it full screen.

Phil Long, director of Mammoth Graphics explained, that “Ventuz is our number one choice because it allows us to use a small Alienware box with Ventuz running on it that sits neatly at the bottom of the monitor – a very elegant solution and simple to install. From the client’s point of view, it was very easy to implement and add to the program content with little disruption”.
